The New York Design Week or NYCxDESIGN is an celebration of design that happens every year in May. This event takes place, of course, in New York City and it will be from the 3rd until 24th of May. The event brings together several disciplines of design, commerce, culture, education, and entertainment. As we can expect, the variety of programs is immense. PRATT INSTITUTE: FILM/VIDEO SENIOR SHOWCASE SNEAK PEAK
This New York Design Week event is a presentation of senior thesis films produced by Film/Video BFA students. It will happen on the 12 of May (friday), from 12 pm to 6 pm. The entrance is free but you have to reserve your ticket by sending an email to filmvideo@pratt.edu.

ULTRAFRAME BY UM PROJECT WITH FEBRIK PRESENTED BY COLONY CONSULT OPENING RECEPTION
This exhibit will mark the return of the designer François Chambard to the New York Design Week. His collection will feature unconventional armoires, cabinets and credenzas with an otherworldly existence. Showcased with the dimensional textiles of FEBRIK, Ultraframe will celebrate the juxtaposition of contrasting elements: hard vs. soft, internal vs. external and 2D vs. 3D.

STEPPING OUT: 1920S FASHION
This event will be a Design Talk about the revolutionary fashion trends that marked the 1920s. It will focus on the style in New York and the influence of Paris. The admission fee is $15.

IS FASHION MODERN? A SALON
This salon will reprise the question in Bernard Rudofsky’s 1944 MoMA exhibition “Are Clothes Modern?”. The salon will be moderated by Paola Antonelli and the participants will have the opportunity to consider the ways in which fashion is part of our culture and how items are designed and manufactured.
This salon will happen on the 15th of May and you shouldn’t miss it at New York Design Week.
RED CARPET STYLE
The author Hal Rubenstein will give an exciting conversation about contemporary style. In this conversation it will be discussed the influence of the red carpet looks on today’s society.
This event is free and it will happen on the 16 of May. Don’t miss it during the New York Design Week.

OUTSIDE THE BOX 6.0
The event “Outside the Box” will build a map of design in North America. This annual traveling exhibition presents collections of thoughtfully designed objects curated by local correspondents, reflecting the particular resources and makers of that area.
Outside the Box 6.0 will happen between the 17 and the 23 of May in the New York Design Week.
JOYA X TAYLOR & MILLER PRESENT: “THE ARCHITECTURE OF FRAGRANCE”
Fragrance design studio Joya and architecture and design firm Taylor and Miller join forces for the New York Design Week to present a limited edition scented product and temporary installation with a unique fragrance delivery system to provoke and inspire the senses.
The entrance to this presentation is free and it will happen between the 5th and the 6th of May.
NARI WARD: G.O.A.T., AGAIN
Socrates will celebrate the opening of New York’s first institutional solo exhibition of Nari Ward. The exhibition, Nari Ward: G.O.A.T., again, will feature a series of six newly commissioned outdoor artworks created on site, which recasts tropes of outdoor structures – the monument, the playground, lawn ornaments, architectural barriers, and the advertising sign – into surreal and playful creations.
This event will be on the 6th of May and you shouldn’t miss it in the New York Design Week.

ART NEW YORK
Art New York provides a fresh alternative for acquiring important, never-before exhibited works from both primary and secondary markets. The fair welcomes both experienced and new art collectors who are looking to experience a carefully-curated, rich-in-content presentation of the best in the global contemporary art market.
It will happen between the 3rf and the 7th of May and the fee is $40. Don’t miss this New York Design Week‘s event.
TEA & TALK:”THE JAZZ AGE”
Over afternoon tea, enjoy an insiders’ perspective of The Jazz Age: American Style in the 1920s. Join the exhibition’s curators Sarah D. Coffin and Emily M. Orr, who will be in conversation with design historian Pauline Metcalf about the pioneering role of American women in the era’s new profession of interior design. A gallery tour follows.
The Tea&Talk will happen on the 8th of May in the New York Design Week and it will have a fee of $35.
