A juxtaposition between spirit and matter, visual pleasure and practical assessment, business and aesthetics, this is the force that moves FAKEDCANDID, the Singapore based visual arts duo that takes pleasure in combining their different trainings and same instinctive interest in their work, to give birth to real, marketable art direction. XL and Donson, the two friends behind FAKEDCANDID, craft their inspiration through the looking glass of stylish mannerisms and a fashionable approach, as seen in the campaign they created for independent clothing label’s SOMEWHERE NOWHERE SS15 collection.
Paint Job, the brightly coloured canny vision that they dreamed up for the label, is full of innuendos, leaning on each side of tragedy and comedy where tools and objects hint at the presence of a painter, through implications of him suffocating, being squashed, or maybe wounded. Subtle clues and unsuspecting bright colours are masterfully placed, eager to either guide or mislead our imagination, depending on the angle in which we choose to look at FAKEDCANDID’s playful narration.
