London Design Festival celebrates and promotes London as the design capital of the world. Now in its fifteenth year, the Festival will be returning to venues and institutions across the city between the 16-24 September 2017. A major feature of the Festival is an ambitious program of over 450 projects and events, offering Londoners and visitors to the city an opportunity to experience world-class, innovative, and challenging design across the capital.
Established in 2003 by Sir John Sorrell CBE and Ben Evans, London Design Festival has since earned the reputation as a key calendar moment of London’s autumn creative season, alongside London Fashion Week, Frieze Art Fair and the London Film Festival, attracting the greatest thinkers,practitioners, retailers, and educators to the capital, in a citywide celebration.
Events During London Design Festival
Decorex, the UK’s leading destination for interior design, will take place this September (17-20) on the historic grounds of Syon Park, as the opening destination of the London Design Festival. This year Decorex celebrates 40 years of design collaborations, focusing both on the strength of its past and current relationships and importantly looking towards those future partnerships.
To welcome in its 40th year, Decorex brought together its friends – old and new – at Syon House to celebrate the past, present, and future of design. A decadent banquet was recreated in Syon House’s Robert Adam’s state dining room for the industry’s creative elite – Hassan Abdullah, Sophie Ashby, Anna Burles, Luke Edward Hall, Simon Hamilton, Dan Hopwood, Victoria Meale, Marcin Rusak, Francis Sultana, Sue Timney, Joanna Wood and Freddy van Zevenbergen – who came together to re-enact a magnificent tableau vivant for the show’s photo shoot and creative campaign.
designjunction returns to the spectacular King’s Cross site in September (21-24 September) for this year’s annual London Design Festival. Following the success of the 2016 edition, which attracted 27,000 visitors over five days, designjunction will expand across new King’s Cross locations for its flagship London show.

100% Design, the UK’s largest trade show for architects and designers, returns to Olympia, London from 20-23 September for its 23rd edition. The show welcomes hundreds of exhibitors and more than 27,000 visitors to Kensington over four days as the commercial heart of London Design Festival, helping to foster relationships between some of the world’s biggest architects, designers, specifiers, retailers, and developers.
Each year 100% Design adopts a theme, which is reflected in its installations, features, talks programs and show design. For the 2017 edition, this is ‘Elements’, which considers everything from the fundamentals of design to the component parts that make up a product, the materials used to the stories and processes of development.
London Design Biennale
The 2018 London Design Biennale will be devoted to the theme, Emotional States. National entries will explore how design affects every aspect of our lives – the way we live and how we live – and influences our very being, emotions, and experiences.
The London Design Biennale is an independent production from the founders of London Design Festival. The curated, three-week long Biennale brings an international element to London, complementing its citywide program of commissions and Partner events every two years.
