The leading architecture South African firm SAOTA has been developing the most modern residential project around the world, their design is quickly recognizable.
This time they went across the ocean and designed another stunning project in Australia, Sydney, where they have built a five-bedroom home for a young family.
The SAOTA team collaborated with the Australians TKD Architects and the interior designer Alexandra Kidd Design to create this three-level house built on sloping land. Downstairs is the garage and the pool. The office, a recreation room, a terrace and the kitchen. Finally, the upper floor is dedicated to rest.
From the street, the house is discreet, but from the pool side, you will discover its sculptural façade. Concrete and sandstone, the natural material from the area were used in the contemporary design of this project.

The interior design project by Alexandra Kidd consisted of softening the interior spaces of this rude and industrial structure. “The concrete is the hero of the project but for the result does not seem cold, we added textures. We play with the contrasts between the raw elements of architecture and the luxurious finishes, juxtaposing this material with brass, wood, stone, leather, and linen, “explains Kidd.
The entrance is a surprising moment, where the guests enter through a wooden door and then pass through a bridge that crosses the garden. Inside the double height striking contemporary entryway a unique view of Sydney.
The modern living room provides more privacy for the family, it faces the garden, which strengthens the feeling of being surrounded by nature. The electric blue was the color used for the all home decor gives a glamorous touch and contemporary look.
A covered area takes us to the pool and the spa, and the roofless terrace is ideal for enjoying the sun. Natural light and the incredible Sydney are important elements in this modern house project.
