An area of 740 meters and exceptional views of the lake and skyscrapers of Chicago. It is what this dream penthouse can offer – contemporary luxury that reaches the sky of the city. The modern apartment is arranged in a J-shaped plan and it was constructed by the Wheeler Kearns Architects team, who proposed the interior design project as a sophisticated and cozy interior design work.
Upon discovering the sublime panorama of this penthouse, it is easy to understand how its tenants – a young family who comes from California – fell in love with this modern apartment. Housed in a building designed by architect Lucien Lagrange, the duplex which occupies levels 38 and 39- overlooks the famous Loop of Chicago and Lake Michigan, a fascinating panorama of this home design during both day and night.
In rusty steel and glass, a sculptural staircase connects both floors. And if we keep talking about materials, we must mention the stars of this modern apartment: plaster, wood, glass, and marble. The reflective finishes of the polished surfaces allow the spaces of the luxury apartment to be subtly illuminated, creating a constantly evolving relationship between the occupants and their surroundings. This effect was reinforced by the lighting design conceived in collaboration with Lux Populi.
The team of Wheeler Kearns decided to play with the geometry of the traditional but contemporary designed building and reinterpreted the inclined walls to create angular volumes, a good method to highlight 270-degree views. Are you as in love with this modern apartment as we are?
In this family, sanctuary turned into a modern apartment that has a slightly masculine aesthetic, a feeling of fluidity and serenity follows. At night, the penthouse becomes a private refuge where you can admire even more the beauty of Chicago.
