Back in the days, Avenida de Montevideu was a choice address for Porto’s well-heeled upper class. Now, the Portuguese city, which has been considered many times as the top European destination and that is always well-ranked in the worldwide matter, just turned one of its 19-centuries palatial mansions into a gorgeous and imposing modern hotel.
A breezy 20-minute drive from the city’s considerably more dense center, the long esplanade in the Foz do Douro neighborhood featured an ornate necklace of 19th-century palatial mansions with a very unique design.
