I Lobo You friends, today we want to share with you the stunning work of the international interior designer Joyce Wang of WANG. Ammo is a new restaurant and bar at the new Asia Society Hong Kong Center, in Admiralty. “AMMO”, a slang term for ammunition, and is also an acronym for Asia, Modern, Museum and Original. The phrase also acknowledges the café’s Asian roots, its modern cross-cultural cuisine, its unique position within a heritage museum, and its original concept.

Having only been in the industry Joyce Wang now has a high flying reputation in the interior design world, with her latest interior inspired by a French Sci-Fi movie ‘Alphaville’ by Jean-Luc Godard. Retro 50′s inspired pieces  plush fabrics, metal studding all sitting against the back drop of  a huge pressed metal star-burst. Perfect!

After passing through the urban oasis-like entrance decorated with greens, stones and rocks, you enter the contrasting surreal, ultra-modern, copper-chic venue. Featuring bunker-like high-ceilings, chandeliers and military and industrial elements, the overall setting reminds diners of the place’s explosives magazine history.

The bespoke furniture is luxurious. Plush sofa seats surround the glass box restaurant, with every seat having a great view of the lush tropical environment around it. Two large counter tables are situated in the middle of the room with plenty of bar stools, making it hospitable for large groups of friends, or to share with someone new.

The chef’s vision is to serve simple, yet sophisticated cuisine when an array of tapas is served. Yet to us the elegantly presented dishes do not look simple at all. The tasty tapas spread reads like a tempting travelogue from east to west: Cuttlefish Cappuccino, Pata Negra ham croquette, Langoustine wrapped in Vietnamese Rice paper and basil, Cantabrico Anchovies on Alta Mura Bread and Oxtail Meatballs with peanuts and cocao powder. Ammo’s bar offers a long drink list and their cocktails are the must-try items, especially during the explosively hot summer.
