The richest male models in the world! – To borrow a phrase from Ben Stiller’s male model character in the comedy Zoolander, being “professionally good looking” is a career that is neither easy nor lucrative for men. The top 10 earning male models earned a combined total of $8 million last year, a measly amount compared to the $83 million their female counterparts raked in over the same year.
It’s an American, British and Canadian top-three this year. The trio of big earners all exceeded the $1 million mark in annual income in the Forbes Magazine rankings.
1. Sean O’Pry – $1.5 million
Born in the US state of Georgia and discovered in his late teens on his Myspace profile, O’Pry has worked with Calvin Klein, Versace, D&G, Ralph Lauren and Michael Kors, and this year just edged out runner-up David Gandy as the world’s top-earning male model.
2. David Gandy – $1.4 million
Gandy has taken on a role as the UK’s unofficial ‘Mr Fashion’ with his work promoting British designers and the London Collections: Men, but he still found time to bag campaigns for Hugo Boss, Banana Republic and Massimo Dutti. Unique among most male models, he’s also got big advertising contracts with food and drink brands in the form of Johnnie Walker whisky and the protein packed ice-cream company Whey Hey.
3. Simon Nessman – $1.1 million
Canadian-born Simon Nessman is the final model to have hit the million-dollar mark. At only 23 years old, the British Columbia native is already the face of Giorgio Armani and Michael Kors. The former high-school basketball player has also worked for Calvin Klein and Versace.
4. Arthur Kulkov, Russian – $905,000
While most male models get their start in the industry by juggling editorial work and runway shows, the 30-year-old Russian model found success almost immediately when he began modeling for campaigns with Barneys, Sisley and Russell & Bromley. 5. Noah Mills, American – $740,000
Noah Mills is one of the most successful American models. Born in the US, this American has been the favorite of Italian fashion house, Dolce & Gabbana. He has been featured in every campaign of the label since his debut. He also has been the face of Michael Kors, Tommy Hilfiger and a regular for Gap. Noah had his acting debut in the movie, Sex and the City 2.
6. Ryan Burns, American – $610,000
Ryan Burns is an American model and the face of Uomo, the new men’s fragrance of Zegna.
Burns earns the bulk of his money from his fragrance contract with Zegna, a brand which gave him contracts for several seasons already. His estimated earnings of $610,000 was brought by his exclusive deal with Zegna.
7. Tyson Ballou, American – $425,000
The American-born model started his career at the young age of 15, and has appeared in campaigns for H&M, Calvin Klein, Jil Sander and Salvatore Ferragamo.(New York agency: IMG)
8. Ollie Edwards, British – $410,000
Ollie Edwards is without a doubt one of the top contenders for being the face of the most campaigns. From Trussardi, Emporio Armani and Giorgio Armani, to Lacoste, Dunhill and Cerruti, Ollie has established himself as the go-to model for designers. Since signing a contract with Ralph Lauren in 2008, Ollie has been the muse for the label and has been heavily featured in their campaigns. His editorials credits include Man About Town, Numero Homme, VMan, L’Officiel Hommes, i-D and Vogue Italia, to name a few..
9. Jon Kortajarena, Spanish – $290,000
Jon is a Spanish male model and according to Wikipedia, he is known for his “distinguishing chiseled cheekbones, piercing stare, and full pout” or to his fans – perfection. He also made his acting debut in Tom Ford’s 2009 “A Single Man.” No claim to any of the images unless otherwise stated.
10. Tobias Sorensen, Danish – $265,000
The tenth person on this list is Tobias Sorensen.
