Lagom is the Scandi Trend Taking Over Hygge
It looks like our cozy ‘Hygge‘ days are fine and fairly over and have been replaced by a fresh, modern Scandinavian sibling. Enter Lagom.
How is it different to ‘hygge‘?
So whereas hygge is all concerning reach a few hours of indulgent individual joy among a contrarily stressful agenda, Lagom is all about discovering an absolutely delightful balance during the day by living simply and avoiding extremes.
Lagom loosely translates from Swedish as “not too little, not too much, just right” and simply embrace a more steady and frugal method to living. Unlike hygge, which strives to achieve a feeling, lagom is an ethos of regulation. Pronounced ‘lar-gohm’, the word is translated to mean ‘just the right amount’. When implementing to an occupied life, it means being frugal and discover the ideal balance between work and relaxation.
Welcome classic Scandinavian minimalism
New and timeless monochrome schemes with a subtle hint of color, clean lines, and natural materials are ideal samples of Scandinavian minimalism which are easy to replicate in your own house.
Choose a few accessories which will attach warmness and character, but don’t overwhelm the room with items that will reduce the calming, minimalist look.
Invest in functional yet timeless pieces for the home which will be used and cherish for years to come, saving both time and capital spent on replacing poor condition items in the future.
At its best lagom is a lifestyle which encourages a simplistic viewpoint on life, it encourages us to find happiness in what we have. So if you are looking to add a scent of lagom to your lifestyle, find your own work/life, save/splurge, and resist/indulge balances for a happy medium in everything you do.
